To improve a family’s chances of parenting success, the Children’s Coalition offers parenting education programs that build knowledge and skills in parental monitoring, communication, support, showing affection, spending time together and discipline.
By understanding the growth and development stages of children (infancy through adolescent), parents and care givers will be able to model and teach new skills and behaviors, encourage good behavior and most importantly promote a healthy sense of self-worth.
The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana offers a variety of parenting workshops, seminars, and training sessions for educators, childcare workers, custodial and non-custodial parents, extended family members and community volunteers throughout the northeast region.
Our goal is to adapt classes to the specific needs of participants with regard to the age of the child, work schedules and family circumstances to strengthen the parenting skills within families. These workshops help parents to understand some of the fundamental components of quality childcare and parenting. We offer skills and strategies to assist families in achieving more rewarding interactions with their children. Also, the Children’s Coalition works closely with the Louisiana Parent Education Network and the Louisiana Children’s Trust Fund to promote evidence-based programs in parent education.
